  • Eject (⏏) or F12 or mouse button or trackpad button: Eject removable media, such as an optical disc.
  • Disabled in macOS Mojave or later, or when using a firmware password.
  • Command-S: Start up in single-user mode.
  • To use the default boot image on the server, hold down Option-N instead.
  • N: Start up from a NetBoot server, if your Mac supports network startup volumes.

  • If your Mac is using a firmware password, it ignores this key combination or starts up from macOS Recovery.

  • If your Mac is using a firmware password, you're prompted to enter the password.
